Wizards Of The Coast Character Builder S Free To AddWe're not trusted to be able to use common sense to figure out that not every member of a species will be the exact same, so they slap the word "Typically" before every single alignment. Spellcasting monsters now have less verisimilitude because they'd otherwise be "too complex". I'm sure as a player, you now have a lot more freedom to do whatever you like, but as a DM, it's a slap in the goddamn face. Official sources, homebrew images, and new information/product photos are the exception.Feel free to add to the community resource folder and the resource list.I'm sure most people saw the new update about the state of 5e, and as a (mostly) forever DM, it's annoying to say the least. For more information on which flair to use check here.No unrelated fundraising - No links to fundraising pages unless they're specifically related to D&D or roleplaying projects (such as Kickstarters or Indiegogo campaigns). No low-effort/OC/image posts outside megathreads - Image posts showing table set ups/minis/dice bags/character drawings/maps and other "OC"-type material are to be limited to the weekly AutoModerator thread.
Frostmaiden in particular had ham-fisted contrivances to keep the threadbare, barely connected plot going, absolutely horrendous balancing (your level 1 party could, rather easily, fight a CR6, and if you ran away from the CR6, you'd get trapped and ambushed by 2 CR3s lurking near the exit, to note a particularly egregious example), and more.I'm pissed. I don't know about Witchlight, since I haven't read it yet (but I do know they put a fucking ad for a DLC supplement in the middle of the book), but Candlekeep and Frostmaiden were not good books from the DM side. To say nothing about general lack of mostly anything to help the DM in recent books. ![]() We’ll see how 6E goes.95% of that Race/Alignment stuff is WotC dealing with woke culture. Regardless, I’ll probably not do much more with 5E. It just feels like people rationalizing these changes because asking people to look up a spell (which is VERY easy to do online) is now considered gatekeeping and that is a bad thing in the minds of many.I’m probably done with Reddit after this post because I realized this place is a cesspool after I compared it to the giant in the playground forums. Despite all the “It’s SOOO convenient” I’m hard pressed to honestly think of a time my game was screeched to a halt because I had to look up a spell, by which I mean looking up spells happens often and is easy. I’ve included a link that elaborates on this general theme better than I could: The stat block stuff is also not appreciated. It nonetheless amuses me that it never occurred to such people to simply introduce more non-white human groups and characters in DND. Wizards Of The Coast Character Builder S Manual In ToOther than the "Back in my day we spent 6 hours prepping our campaign, uphill in the snow!" flex, I don't know why a small minority has a problem with this. There's no book burning scheduled where you have to turn your monster manual in to the firemen. For everyone else who doesn't have the comprehensive D&D spell book memorized this is a huge quality of life upgrade. If you want to run your campaign the legacy way, do so. The other 5% is QoL letting players play the character they want without having to be one of three races that boost the appropriate ASI.Re the monster cards. Resurrection of ertugrul season 6So I start with the assumption that a racist is an idiot and I never speak about them. Racism and the general concept about race should never be connected from the real life. At worst, it proactively hurts the game with delayed or cancelled sessions because the DM didn't have time after work.My only gripe is that it devalues Counter spell unless WotC updates the spell to work in the new system.I think that they followed the strange "political correct" idea of these times. Pln onlineThe Drow culture and Drizzt are a good example of exceptions, Eilistraee cult too. You can then argue what is evil and good and the answer is not always the same except if you define those boundaries as our culture as base for the analysis And even then it's not always white and black. Their culture and their life style is evil from the dnd perspective. Drow in faerun have a very cool story tied to Corellon and Loth (not reported here for the sake of being short) and they moved in the underdark. Elves are always seen like good, or better non evil, long living tied to nature people and it derives from the pop culture, but if you play in dark sun elves are nomadic assassins and so halflings ! And this is correct if you read the lore of the setting. In my campaign I used to take the common stat of a races fixed creating a tie to the race (+2 Dex for example, or +2 con for dwarves) cause they describe the race: agile for elves and sturdy for dwarves and then I let you change se secondo part of the race creating a lot of combinations without losing the general idea of the race. I like the race changes even, i had already modified races in a more flexible way then the original one but they exceeded IMHO).
